Hard work pays off with a little bit of luck

I had my final interview with a certain company today. This event had been haunting me for 4 days before the actual day. It appeared in my dreams multiple times and it also shortened my sleeping time since I couldn’t go back to sleep after waking up from that dream.

I wasn’t sure how the interview went, but I think I had a pretty nice conversation with both interviewers. One was a lady from the HR and one was a higher up of the current position I’m applying for. There were one or two questions that threw me off, but I think overall I still did pretty okay. I wasn’t sure if I were able to impress them or not, though.

An hour and thirty minutes after the interview ended, I received a call from one of the HR person in the company. They informed me that I passed the final round and that they’re offering me the position. I was in the middle of prepping my dinner, kneading a dough to make naan. Man, I was dumbfounded. Who would’ve thought they’d notify me of the results within 2 hours?

I notified my parents, my circle of friends, then my teachers and career counselor. It’s always interesting how your friends are more hyped up than yourself. My teachers were also happy and they showered me with messages. I called my parents to notify them about it. They didn’t go screaming CONGRATS!!! or squeal but I can tell that my mom’s happy. She’s a bit sad at the same time since that means I won’t be going home any time soon. I really wish I could meet her.

So yeah, after multiple job applications and depression cycles, I finally landed myself a job. I must say that luck plays a huge role in this application. I guess job hunting is really just about the right time, right place, and the right people. Anyways, my job won’t start until next year April so I’m going to have plenty of open months to enjoy myself before transitioning into the work force.

(Thank you Hanako for your constant support and advices for the interview. They really helped me a lot to make it this far!)
