Back under the emergency state

I’ve been going to work (literally, to the office) almost every day this week. Last time I went to the office was at the beginning of April, to attend the entrance ceremony. Afterwards, I’ve been spending every single day at home. But my boss was quite worried that I would develop some kind of depression from being locked in for too long and unable to grasp what it’s like to actually ‘work’. So he decided that I should go to the office at least several times. I hate the morning rush, but I feel a bit more alive from being able to actually go somewhere and meet people.

But then Japan decided to place Tokyo under another emergency state just right before Olympic. I’m guessing they’re doing this in order to reduce the flow of people so that they don’t need to cancel the event. But that just sparked more rage and more people are protesting against the government’s decision to hold the Olympic. And because the whole prefecture is placed under restriction, my company forbids anyone without permission to go to the office. So, I guess I’m going back to working from home from next week.

It’s been raining daily for the past few weeks and Shizuoka prefecture was hit pretty hard with a landslide and killed multiple. Earlier today, several prefectures on Kyushu island was also under heavy rain that alert levels were set at the highest point. Citizens were told to evacuate since they feared the possibility for landslides. And tonight, tornado warning was issued to everyone living in the Tokyo prefecture. I hope nothing bad actually happens…

Wow, I’m sorry that the government called for another essentially “quarantine”. Is it really that serious there? There isn’t any vaccines yet? That’s just crazy to me. I though Japan would be more organized than the US, but we just got another strand of covid to worry about. It doesn’t really effect anyone who was vaccinated, but you get sick quicker, and can spread it more quickly here.

I hope things return to a better state there so you can go back to work. I know how you feel. I’m just not starting to feel like I can go out again, but then again, with the new strand, I’m not ready to go out with no mask. I’m scared that my daughter will end up getting it, but the US is getting closer to getting a vaccine for 2-12 year olds as soon as September. Please take care of yourself and try to stay positive! I know it’s hard, but it’ll be over hopefully sooner than later.

I heard about the landslides, but I didn’t know about tornadoes! I think they scare me the worse. They’re very unpredictable, and you really can’t prepare for them unless you have a tornado siren to alert everyone that a tornado has landed? Those sirens scared me as a child when I liked in Oklahoma (lived right on tornado alley) but thankfully the two years living there, we were never effected by them. Please stay safe!

There’s a vaccine shortage going on in Japan right now. I guess the government didn’t expect the surge in vaccination requests so now it’s not enough to vaccinate everyone. I got my vaccination ticket last month but wasn’t able to place any reservations because they divide the reservation times by age range. My group reservation was originally scheduled to be from the 2nd of July, but it changed to the 15th, and now the 17th. Not sure if they’re going to postpone it again. But if they do, I’m not even going to be surprised at this point.

And yes the Delta variant (the one from India, I think?) is scary. I read somewhere that none of the current vaccines are guaranteed to be able to fight it off, so I would still wear a mask even if I were to be vaccinated already. I cannot understand the reason why people are so against masks.

I was also surprised when I saw my weather app issued the tornado alert. I immediately checked my emergency food stock. I think I still have enough in case something bad happens. I can probably last a week. But maybe I should buy more…? I’ll have to make a list and stock up.

It never hurts to stock up. I’m buying a couple cans of food at a time. I don’t want to over stock though like last year (or maybe the year before?) because I found a bunch of canned beans that have expired or close to expiring. (I decided to buy canned fruits, and I might buy some fruit cups next). I’m buying a lot of fruit because I’m not sure what my daughter will eat. She’s so use to homemade food.

Hey! Just seeing how you are doing! Are you still working from home?

Hey! I’m doing fine! I’m sorry for not updating for so long. I just didn’t get the motivation to lol. And yes, I’m still working from home. The corona situation here just gets worse each day due to the Delta variant and also the Olympics. I still haven’t gotten lucky with the vaccination slots as well, so I think it’ll take some more time before I can secure my shot.

How are things over at your place? I hope everything is going well. Also, I love the embroidery you made!

Goodness. I’m sorry that the vaccine is taking longer. Hopefully you get it soon. They’re talking about having the vaccine for 2-12 year olds here in September, so I’m hoping it’s the beginning of Sept so I can get my daughter vaccinated before leaving to my parents’ home in October.

I figured the Olympics would spread the virus faster. I really wished they postponed it another year. Or just wait until whenever the next one would be. I’m sorry that you’re still stuck at home, but hopefully just for a little bit longer. 🙁

Thank you for the compliment! I actually finished the rest of them yesterday! It was a lot of fun to embroider, and I’m looking forward to my next project!
