Week 33 Update: A Somewhat Eventful Birthday

My birthday was a bit more eventful than I had expected. Despite spending the whole week at home, I think I had a great time receiving birthday wishes and gifts.

One of my friends usually goes to a gaming sessions at another friend’s place that’s near to where I live. So when he does that, he usually brings me food delivery from the local karage restaurant that we love (of course, I always pay him back). This time, he asked me like usual if I wanted anything from that restaurant. So I ordered stuff.

When I went down to pick up the food, he gave me the plastic bag which I noticed had another item inside it aside from the food. He said, “Happy birthday! I got you a gift but please don’t judge the wrapping. I’m bad at it.” I was thrown off for a split second since I never expected him to get me anything. We’ve known each other for three years now, but this is the first time he gave me something. I said thanks and asked how much I needed to pay for the food and he said I didn’t need to pay for it since it’s his treat.

I hurried back to my room and opened his gift. At first, I thought it was some kind of Nintendo Switch game since the box was exactly the same. But when I opened it, I found a small cat bookmark. I can’t believe I almost got fooled by the plastic box lol. I immediately sent him a thank you text message and told him that he has the greatest gift-wrapping skill I’ve ever seen.

I then spent the rest of the week having my sleep disrupted by couriers who came to deliver stuff in the morning. One day it was from Amazon (I ordered groceries), one day it was from Adidas (I got a shirt on discount), and another day it was Muji (I got a bunch of stuff). I think I really overspent my money on things this month haha.

I also decided to get a pair of headphones just for the sake of having one. They were on discount and I got a gift card from my friend, so I thought, why not.

I also got more flowers from the Flower subscription app. My friend (the one who got me the fountain pen) was kind enough to order one for me and get it delivered to my place. He said it’s an additional birthday gift.

I didn’t change the water and cut the stems every 2-3 days last time so the plants died quickly. I decided to do as instructed this time and they’re still alive and healthy! I made a short video about it just for fun.

Now that I’m broke, I need to save my money until the end of this month. Haha.

  1. I’m very glad to hear that you had a very good birthday! It was nice of your friend to buy you dinner and treated you to a gift! Did you take a picture of the bookmark? I’m sure it was very hard for him to think of a gift for you!

I also love your new headphones! I just ordered a new pair of earbuds like two days ago. They’re the same brand I have, but they fit my ears better than most brands. I guess I have small ears, so most of the ear buds don’t fit and just pops out. lol Anyways, your headphones look so comfortable!

The flowers are beautiful! Looks like you have a carnation, Gyps (Baby’s breath), I think the green leaves are Cocculus, and looks like pink hypericum berries, and the last one is something I’m not familiar with. I really enjoyed your video! It was fun to watch, and you made me chuckle a few times with the captions. I thought it was cute!

    1. I was so excited that I forgot to take a pic of it. Lol. But I found the product picture online: (https://i.imgur.com/JaNMZn3.png). I found out after that he had consulted with another friend of mine to find one.

The headphones are very comfortable! But the sad thing that befalls all glasses users is that it starts to hurt after several hours. But that’s okay! Since I plan to use this more when I’m relaxing/focusing so the usage time isn’t that long anyways.

You’re so knowledgeable about the plants! I only knew carnation and baby’s breath. Haha. I’ve seen the berries somewhere in the flower section of the supermarket, though they’re usually red. I’m not sure what the last one is either. It’s my first time seeing it.

Glad to know that you enjoyed the video! Haha. It makes all the effort and struggles to take and edit worth it.

  2. It’s weird that I know a lot about plants. I guess it’s from all the research I do for the perfect houseplant or whatever it is. My husband was surprised about how much native plants and animals I know. Also, the bookmark is very cute! It’s metal? I thought it was just a paper one. lol I don’t normally use bookmarks. I’m terrible, I bend the corners to know where I’m at or a paper clip. lol Unless it’s someone else’s book, then I use a paper Sailor Saturn bookmark. I’m not even sure where the book mark came from. lol The metal bookmark is appealing though. It’ll never ended up getting bent like paper ones. I should look for one for myself!

    1. Yes! It’s a very thin metal. I don’t normally buy bookmarks for myself since I just use a piece of unused paper as a bookmark lol. I don’t like turning my books upside down since it hurts the spine (but for some reason my mom does this all the time) and I don’t wanna ruin the pages either.
